EVkids Camp
EVkids is a Boston non-profit organization that, among other things, runs a camp in the Green Mountains of Vermont for kids from the city. The challenge we faced on this project was rebuilding this beloved camp without losing the familiarity and feel of the pre-existing structure. Working with DSK, Dewing Schmid Kearns Architects & Planning we maintained a rustic feeling by leaving studs exposed, painting the 2nd story wood floors, building wood slab dining furniture and creating simple bunks and bedframes. Coupled with modern day comforts including plenty of open space and a modern kitchen with updated appliances the finished product creates a well-balanced and welcoming environment that feels like a home away from home for the kids and staff that visit each year.
