Edgewater Gallery at Middlebury Falls
For this extension of the Edgewater Gallery we added a two-story deck for use as an event venue and renovated the interior to enlarge the gallery. Large pine boards were sourced from the gallery owner’s property. A glass panel in the floor allows visitors to see the enormous (12 to16-foot diameter) old wooden gears and mechanisms from when the building used the dam to power its operations. The deck, with railings and stairs of steel, required custom roof trusses and special design. The landscaping was created to emphasize the Middlebury waterfalls in the background.
